If you are pre-solo, discuss with an instructor before doing any task.
Difficulty | easy |
---|---|
Minimum set-off height | 3,600 ft |
Distance | 15.7 km |
Airspace | Stay below 5,200 ft QFE south of Gransden. If you get low over Bourn airfield, land rather than getting in the way of Bourn traffic! |
BGA Ladder Points | 93 |
Suitable weather conditions | winds from north with moderate thermals or better |
This task is an out and return. Do the task when winds are from the north so you are blown back towards the airfield. It would be worth attempting the out and return to Caxton Gibbet before attempting this task.
Extra points can be gained by making the flight a GRL-PAP-CAX-GRL triangle, without significantly changing the flight.
Directions
The village of Cambourne and Bourn airfield are easily recognisable landmarks. Note that the main runway at Bourn points towards Gransden Lodge.
Turn points
- GRL (Gransden Lodge)
- the main hangar at Gransden Lodge
- PAP (Papworth)
- roundabout next to sewage works north of Papworth Everard
- minimum height: 2,800 ft
